Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is an island in Indonesia, located about 20 kilometers southeast of Bali. It is part of the regency of Klungkung and belongs to the province of Bali. The island is known for its breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, steep cliffs and crystal-clear waters.

The climate on Nusa Penida is generally warm and tropical all year round. There are two seasons, the dry season and the rainy season.

Dry season

The dry season lasts from April to October and is the most popular time to visit Nusa Penida. The days are sunny and the amount of precipitation is low. The temperatures are pleasantly warm.

Rainy season

The rainy season lasts from November to March and is characterized by more frequent rainfall and higher humidity. Although it can rain, the showers are often short-lived and there are still many sunny days. Temperatures remain warm, but the humidity can rise.

Angel’s Billabong

Broken Beach

Broken Beach, also known as Pasih Uug, is a natural rock formation on the island of Nusa Penida that was created by erosion and forms an impressive natural break in the cliffs.

AMARTA Penida

AMARTA Penida is a restaurant that offers various infinity pools and the Gate of Heaven as well as a magnificent view of the Indian Ocean. It is particularly popular at sunset.

  • The restaurant offers a good view of the Indian Ocean and the neighboring islands of Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan .
  • The “Gate of Heaven”, which is located in front of the restaurant facing the sea, is particularly striking. The split gate can also be found in many Balinese temples and is called “Candi Bentar” (split gate).
  • Three infinity pools and numerous lounges invite you to linger at AMARTA Penida.

Kelingking Beach

  • The manta rays use the space for feeding, cleaning or searching for a partner and swim about 5 meters below the surface.
  • Manta Point can only be reached by boat directly from the water, but with a bit of luck you can also get a good view of the impressive creatures from the cliffs above.
  • Divers and snorkelers have the opportunity to observe manta rays up close at Manta Point. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the chances are often good, especially in the dry season.
  • The waters around Manta Point are known for strong currents and can therefore be particularly challenging for inexperienced divers and snorkelers.

Diamond Beach

Atuh Beach

Atuh Beach is one of the most famous and most beautiful beaches on Nusa Penida. It is located on the east coast of the island.

  • Atuh Beach is known for its turquoise-blue lagoon, fine white sand and the imposing cliffs that surround the coast.
  • The crystal-clear water is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving and offers a diverse underwater world with coral reefs and colourful fish.
  • Access to the beach is via a steep path from above or by boat across the sea. There are also some stairs to make access easier. However, the ascent and descent require a certain level of physical fitness.
  • The neighboring Diamond Beach is nearby and can be easily combined with Atuh Beach.

Banjar Nyuh

The harbor of Banjar Nyuh (Banjar Nyuh Harbour) is a small harbor in the village of the same name on Nusa Penida. It serves as a landing stage for boats and small ferries that travel between Nusa Penida and the neighboring islands.

  • Banjar Nyuh is not really beautiful, but it is an important part of the infrastructure. The port plays a crucial role in the transportation of people and goods.
  • In addition to boats to the other Nusa Islands (Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan), there are also connections to the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno) as well as to Bali and Lombok.
