Indonesia is a fascinating and diverse country that stretches across a large archipelago of islands in Southeast Asia. It is the largest island state in the world and is home to enormous cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity. Geographically, Indonesia stretches from Sumatra in the west to Papua in the east and thus occupies a strategically important position between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Indonesia stretches across the equator. It is the largest island state in the world and consists of more than 17,000 islands, of which around 6,000 are inhabited. With a land area of approximately 1,904,569 square kilometers, Indonesia is the 14th largest country in the world.
With a population of more than 270 million people, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. It is also the most populous Muslim country.
The official language of Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia. However, there are over 300 ethnic groups that speak more than 700 languages.
The majority of the population in Indonesia practices Islam, followed by a variety of religions, including Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and traditional indigenous religions.
Indonesia is a democratic republic with a president as head of state. The country has a multi-party system.

Food Drinks
Bintang is the country’s best-known beer and is produced by the PT Multi Bintang Indonesia brewery. Bintang is a lager beer and is often described as having a light, refreshing taste and a mild hop aroma. It is available in different varieties, including Bintang Pilsener and Bintang Radler. Bintang is available in both a small (330 ml) and a large version (620 ml).
Nasi Goreng is a popular Indonesian dish and means fried rice. It consists of boiled rice fried in a pan with various ingredients such as vegetables, eggs, meat or seafood. The dish is often refined with spices, herbs and sauces to give it an aromatic flavor.
Mie Goreng is a delicious Indonesian noodle dish that is often translated as fried noodles. It is prepared in a similar way to nasi goreng, but cooked noodles are used instead of rice. Mie goreng is a popular street dish in Indonesia and is often prepared with various ingredients and spices.
Satay, also known as satay skewer, is a popular dish in many countries in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. It consists of marinated meat that is skewered and grilled or fried. Satay is often served with a spicy peanut sauce and can be eaten as a starter, main course or snack.
Gado-Gado is a colorful and versatile salad consisting of a mixture of cooked or raw vegetables such as potatoes, green beans, spinach, sprouts and cabbage. These vegetables are often combined with hard-boiled eggs, tofu and tempeh and topped with a creamy peanut sauce.

Travel time
Indonesia has a tropical climate with high temperatures and high humidity of between 70% and 90% all year round. Due to its geographical location on the equator, the country is hot and humid all year round, although there are major regional differences.
